Fiber optic technology uses optical fiber as a “light pipe” to transmit light in two different ways. The first is called sidelight, which is a band of light that is made up of several light strands held together in a transparent P.V.C jacket. Sidelight is used to emit light along the length of the fiber, appearing as a bright, fluorescent tube. This is often used to frame objects.
